For the past 23 years, our church has worked at the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival. The Lions Club initially hired us to man the sweet corn booth for them, through the years we've also taken money for parking, manned the lost child center & provided gate security. It is one of two big fund raisers that we do as a church. We work crazy long hours for 4 days and raise several thousand dollars.
It is really hard work, but we get to spend all of that time together as a church family and the amount of fun and fellowship that is had is amazing!
Since we have been doing it for so long, our children have grown up working at the festival and now our grandkids. The past several years, David Riley, Abby, Jonathan & Hunter have worked really hard cleaning, soaking, and hauling baskets (or buckets) of corn. Next year Eva will be old enough to start learning the "fun" of cleaning the silk from the corn.
This year however, Eva still gets to help me keep watch over a gate. Last night she had two of her dolls (she calls them her sisters) and a back pack full of toys.

Our church school works several booths at our state fair in a similar fundraiser. It's a lot of work, but it's so nice to do one big fundraiser instead of a bunch of little ones throughout the year.
