Kentucky Comes to Us

Tuesday at work I received a text message from Liz asking if it would be okay if they came up for a visit Wednesday and stayed until Saturday.

AS! IF! YOU! HAD! TO! ASK!!!!

So, Liz, Chris and Zachary made their way north. They were at home when I got off of work, and arrived with pizza for supper. Unfortunately, Zachary didn't take to the long drive so well. He wouldn't eat, and he SCREAMED anytime anyone except Mom or Dad touched him. Poor little guy screamed for most of 2 1/2 hours, even with Mom and Dad. Part of it was evidently an upset stomach, but part of it must have been the new surroundings and noises. We all went to church for the Vacation Bible School service, and he cried, and cried, until he finally went to sleep in Chris' arms, and THEN Nana (meaning me) finally got to hold him. After church, he seemed to be in a little better spirit, so Liz decided that folks could hold him, that lasted all of about 15 minutes. I was starting to feel sorry for Liz and Chris at this point because neither of them felt well, and Zachary ONLY WANTED MOM OR DAD!!!

Thursday I had to work, but by the time I got back home, Z seemed to be adjusting, and was definitely starting to be hungry!!! He decided to make up for lost time eating, and therefore kept everyone busy juggling bottles, or changing diapers. He made it through VBS service just fine and was happy & friendly with everyone.

Friday morning the WonderHusband & I were off because we had to go to the District Junior Bible Quizzing Finals. That means that I had quite a bit of the morning to snuggle Z. As a matter of fact, I held him through an entire 1 1/2 hr. nap, after I fed him. Of course, then I had to leave and that just about killed me. However, my mom was left in Liz's and Chris' very capable hands, and had them mostly to herself for Friday.

I got home today, and had to put away the pack-n-play, and felt so sad!!! I really wish that we lived closer!!! Oh, well, at least we had these few days together!! **BIG SMILE**
