What's Happening?

I'm so sorry that I've not been posting.  I think my writer's brain went into deep hibernation with the onset of real winter weather.

Life has been going on at a rapid pace here despite the weather.  My preschool girls are starting to work on letter sounds in preparation for learning to read.  Eva has moved past this and is starting to sight-read some words.  She loves helping me read during story time!  Shanna has even started recognizing her name when it is printed on something. Not bad for a 2 1/2 yr old!  Eva likes handing out the papers with names on them, because she can read/recognize them.

I found some mazes that the girls LOVE working. It makes them really concentrate so that they don't cross the lines or cut corners too sharply.  They are part of the Kumon books.  I'm thinking I'm going to be buying more of this series.  I love that they have them broken down by ages instead of grades.  One of the ladies at our church is a Kindergarten teacher this year, and she looked through the book and the list of other books and said that she was impressed with how much ground they cover in practical learning and problem solving.

Today is one of those "wonderful" icy days that show up way too often in our neck of the woods.  Schools have been closed for the day, so David Riley and Eva are here with us today.  Sir Nottaguy-Imadad had taken the day off to help me transport my mom to the VA Clinic, but I had to cancel those appointments because the roads/sidewalks are not safe.  I think we are just going to spend the day playing, watching movies, and enjoying each other.

Tomorrow is our 28th wedding anniversary.  It is so hard to believe that we've been married that long on one hand, but on the other hand, it feels like we've always been together!  It's truly been mostly good times.  Sir is a wonderful man to be married to and makes me feel very cherished and loved.  He's a huge help with our family and is a great son-in-law for my mom.  Tomorrow we will spend the day working together at a Bible Quizzing tournament surrounded by some of the best people in the world--kids that are memorizing the Word of God!  Every few years our anniversary lands on a quiz date.  We've never thought about not working it.  Our marriage is richer because of our shared love for Bible Quizzing and the kids that participate.

I am slowly getting my sewing room re-organized and cleaned out.  I've found some materials that I can't wait to work with.  I have ideas clamoring to be put into reality.  We are, also, slowly going through some of the STUFF that has piled up.  I'm learning not to try to do too much at any one time so that I don't get overwhelmed and frustrated.  I'm making lots of trips to various donation sites to give them what I've cleaned out.  It feels good to see the stuff leaving!

So, what have you been up to?
