Impatience Is Definitely NOT A Virtue!

Saturday, the WonderHusband and I took a trip south to visit The Lizness. Now, under normal driving conditions this is a 2 1/2 hr. trip. Saturday it was more like 5 hours. LITERALLY!!

It took 2 1/2 hours to go about 15 miles. Why? Well, it seems that the Highway Patrol spotted a leaking tank truck that just happened to be hauling a load of phosphorus. I71 was shut down on both sides for nearly 7 hours while the chemical spill was cleaned up and the truck contained.

During all of this fun, I saw the best example of impatience getting you in trouble. Approximately every mile there is an emergency vehicle turn around on the freeway. Many people were making use of them Saturday to get out of the traffic backup.

Unfortunately, one young woman in a pretty little Neon decided she just couldn't wait for the traffic to inch up enough for her to reach the next turn around. So, she decided to go thru the median. Now, it was a fairly decent hill on our side of the road, however, the other side dropped steeply into a ditch. So, did she! Nose first! Rear end of car sticking straight up!

The young man in the cowboy hat that pulled his pickup over to try to help her, just kept shaking his head. Every time she moved, so did the whole car.

I would love to have seen the wrecker driver when he got there!!

Sometimes sitting in the traffic isn't all that bad!

Once, when my family took a trip to NYC, I saw this same thing happen -- someone who couldn't be patient enough for traffic to move, decided to go over the median. He didn't make it and was then more stranded than ever...

Yeah, I'd rather be waiting in traffic too. I'll bet you got to where you were going faster than she did.

Well, Ladies, all I know was that I was laughing too hard to even think of whipping out my cell phone to take a picture!!

Carolyn, beware--If you EVER do something this stupid, I WILL POST IT!!!

There are some things that even true blondes ought to be smarter than to try!!! ;)
