Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!!!

Picture this: A mother-daughter banquet. Groups of ladies seated at tables having their dinner served to them by a kitchen-talented group of young men. Quiet conversation. The door opens and two young women walk in.

I'm on my feet babbling in about 5 seconds flat!!!!

No--it was not my daughter, Liz, that walked in!!

It was two young women who had gone to our church while they attended Kenyon College. Sarah and Karlene!!! Oh, the memories!!!! (And here I would insert a picture of the two of them, however, I forgot to get their permission.)

You could look far and wide and still have trouble finding two such different personalities to put together a lasting friendship. But they have been, and still are, the very best of friends.

Karlene is originally from Jamaica. She is currently a resident of Texas and is a doctor specializing in infectious diseases. She, also, has the most adorable 12 yr. old son!!!!

Sarah lives in southern Ohio, and has raised two lovely daughters. The oldest was graduating from Kenyon College on Saturday, which was the reason that Sarah was in town. Karlene just couldn't miss seeing her friend's daughter graduate, so she flew in from Texas for the event.

Sarah was my daughter, Jessica's, favorite pre-school Sunday School Teacher!! Sarah had this BEAUTIFUL red-gold hair that she usually styled in a long braid. And she always dressed in these long, flowing skirts so she could get right down on the floor with the kids and never have to worry about anything being revealed.

Karlene had this fabulous accent that the WonderHusband loved to imitate. Karlene's constant response "Ooooh, Ross, you are soooo baaad!" Karlene, also, shared my love of anything chocolate, and that had some pretty fun results at times, too.

It was soooooo good to see both of them Saturday. And I really don't care if most everybody else thought I had lost my mind!!! When you see friends that you haven't seen in a long time, you need to squeal and scream and blubber a little over each other!!!
