I'm at home today with a very sore back and right arm. I'm not even sure I'm going to take the whole day off. I can hurt and moan and groan at work as well as I can at home.
It all started Saturday during the snow/freezing rain/ice storm that we had. I was going on my lunch break, and just decided to cross the parking lot and go to Friendly's for a grilled cheese and fries. Unfortunately, between the bank and Friendly's there is a wide parking lot and a few curb stones, and, on Saturday, there was a tremendous amount of slush with a thick crust of ice. My toe caught on the crust of ice and I tripped over myself landing in an inglorious heap on my knees and right hand.
As I explained to one of the younger tellers, I don't bounce very well anymore, so falling is something I try to avoid at all costs. This time, catching myself with my right hand has had some painful costs! I have abosolutely (hat tip to Becky!) no bruises or scrapes, but today, my back and right side are very achey and my right wrist is stiff.
Can someone please explain why it takes my body 4 days to start hurting???

:( so sorry Mom! I guess your back didn't get the memo - it was snail mailed instead of text messaged :) lol
I don't bounce well, either! But, my children do. Almost daily!

Hi,
Sorry & ouch about your fall.
I dread slipping in snow/ice.
To answer your question: I heard somewhere that there's a delayed reaction to pain because when you do something like fall, your body produces some kind of chemical (endorphin?) to help you deal with the immediate situation. Later, those chemicals subside and that's why you feel that delayed pain.
Feel better.
Better yet, go see a doctor.
Well, that's your Medical Minute for today.
thanks for dropping by my newbie blog.
Hope you are feeling better.
I will pop back in a few days.
