My mom will turn 90 next Thursday.
Instead of trying to put together a birthday party that would most likely do more physical harm than emotional good, I started organizing a card shower for her.
At this point, I have 37 birthday cards (including some absolutely adorable handmade ones from children!) and am really hoping that we can get 90 cards. I'm going to go shopping for a really pretty basket to put all of the cards in and then I'm going to decorate it with a balloon bouquet. I'll deliver the basket to her on Thursday before I go to work, so that she can browse through the cards and enjoy herself all day long.
I talked to the director of the daycare center that is directly across the road from the nursing center and she has been having all of the children there making cards and they are going to deliver them in person and sing "Happy Birthday" to her.
I'm getting a little excited to see how this all plays out!

Jewel, Mom will be soooo excited. She loves getting cards from people that she knows, but rarely sees.
