This week as the Knox County Fair has been going on, I have had Eva and Ninja Shanna together several times. I had truly forgotten how little you get done when you have two in diapers demanding your attention.
Not to mention the fact, that this is the first time that Eva has had to really share Nana at Nana's house for an extended period with no other adults around.
On Monday evening, Eva decided that Shanna was not allowed to lay on the couch. Or in the Pak-n-Play. She could lay across my lap, but only if I was ALSO holding Eva. Or I could put Shanna in her car seat, or lay her on a blanket on the dining room table. When I finally had had ENOUGH of the 'tude, Eva was put in the Pak-n-Play for a little time out and nap. Ninja Mistie picked Shanna up before Eva was up, so the rest of the night went better.
The other thing that kept happening Monday night, was EVERY! TIME! Shanna cried, Sparky nipped me and Eva! He didn't like the sound of her crying and it was obviously the fault of one of us, so he made sure we both knew he was upset!
Disclaimer: When Sparky nips, it's more like a grazing of teeth with a lot of dog lip. There is no pain involved. If he wants to get our attention and a nip doesn't work, he grabs our wrists with his whole mouth, once again no pain.
Today, Eva was pretty content with me holding Shanna, but I wasn't allowed to let Shanna cry AT ALL!!! Eva would walk over and "shhhh" at both of us! I think she was afraid Sparky would start nipping again, and she wanted him to know that she was doing her part to keep the peace! **grin**
One thing I noticed, while the two girls are on totally different eating schedules, the diapers were pretty much simultaneous. If Shanna had a wet diaper, Eva was ready to be changed, too. And the really messy diapers, well, let's just say Sir Nottaguy didn't have one hesitation about taking out the trash!
I remember having Mrs. Lemon and Jessica in diapers at the same time for only a short period of time. (about 4 months) Mrs. Lemon decided that diapers were for babies right around her 2nd birthday, so she kept asking for "big girl pants". I've NEVER seen a child potty break themselves before or since! She didn't have one single night or nap accident for 6 months. And then it was because she was sick and coughed so hard she went.
Jessica was not so easy. I had to keep reminding myself, that almost all children are potty trained before they go to Kindergarten. It wasn't that she didn't know she needed to go, it was just that she was too busy having fun to stop and go. When she got to a break in her play time, she'd go to the bathroom and clean herself up and change underwear and TELL ME that she had. I was about ready to tear my hair out at times!
