This week has been the beginning of a new normal for me. Other than starting the week off with a holiday, of course. (Hmmmm, wonder what life would be like if every week started with a holiday???)
I'm watching Shanna more now that Mistie is back in college. She's starting to talk more plainly and has some very definite opinions! Just recently she has started wearing her preschool backpack ALL! THE! TIME! and she has fallen in love with hats. Mistie says that her shoes, hat and backpack go on first thing in the morning and removing any of them can cause an instant melt-down. I get to see that in action every time I put her down for her afternoon nap. It's a pretty good melt-down! (Nana has a heart of steel when it comes to nap time. The child needs it and so do I!)
I still have Eva and David Riley several times a week. DR is in middle school now, and LOVES! IT! He likes most of his teachers and is really enjoying being in classes with other kids that are mostly on his learning level. Eva is getting much better at identifying her letters and numbers and she has started "reading" books to me based on the pictures. I love having grandchildren that are bookworms!
Last week I started watching my niece's two daughters, Layla and Alexis. We are still ironing out the wrinkles of after-school scheduling. The girls think that they can walk in the door, drop their bookbags and start eating and playing to their hearts' content. That's not the way my schedule works. We will get into a routine, but most of the changes will come on their side of the fence!
So now, my schedule is looking like this:
M-F 4-7 p.m. Layla & Alexis
Tu & Thu 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Preschool with Eva, Shanna, Jemma & Raylee
two mornings a week Eva comes at 5:45 a.m. & stays until 7 p.m.
the same two days a week DR comes about 3:15 p.m. & stays until 7 p.m.
Tu & Thu Shanna is here until 5 p.m. & Weds. 9 a.m.-? & occasionally on Mon. & Fri. from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Pretty busy schedule for a stay-at-home grandmother, huh?
It's still kind of amazing to me, how God has opened doors for me to do what I love (teach & be with the grandchildren) and provided what some of our kids needed (reliable, consistent childcare) just from me getting injured a year ago. Now, it's spreading out to other families.
God is good even when we can't quite see what He's bringing about. I'm reminded of a quote "We can always trust God, even when we can't track Him." I'm not sure where I first heard it, but I hold on to it because the truth of it is so apparent in my life.
What quotes do you hold on to?

Well, that's amusing since I just shared a quote on your last post without having read this one. How busy you are! I'm glad that you enjoying it and I'm sure that the children will be better off for your care.
I love the quote you shared! It's a good one to hang on to. I'm hoping that the consistency of love and discipline will prove of benefit for the kids and their parents. I really do love being with them! (Doesn't mean I'm not worn out when they all leave! ;-) )
