The Trees

Yesterday, I was in the backyard while my preschool girls were playing.  It was a cool 45F, but it was beautiful!  I was sitting in the yard swing and these were the trees over my head:

The first was my crab apple tree that Rob planted our first spring (2002) in the house.  As you can see, it has mostly lost its leaves, but the birds and squirrels are enjoying the fruit.

To my right is the towering tree that provides ample shade during the summer and loads of leaves during late Fall.  It is just turning from green to yellow and the contrast is beautiful!

The girls were having fun kicking the leaves and playing with them in the play house.  Once there is a big pile of leaves raked up, I'm sure that there will be much running and jumping.

I wish I could have gotten a good picture of the tree across the street.  It is a very compact red maple.  During the Spring and Summer it is a beautiful dark red, almost purple.  When Fall does its magic, the leaves turn coppery and just shine!

I have always loved the colors and smell of Autumn.  I enjoy the crisp, cooler temperatures.  I even like the overcast, rainy days.  It brings out the "Suzy Homemaker" in me.  I want to cook and bake.  I want hot tea or cider or cocoa.  I start thinking about crafts that I want to make.

How does Autumn affect you?

In similar ways, which is one reason why it is so hard to go on a diet in autumn. Loved the description and photos of your time in the backyard!
