My husband, Ross, and I decided to pack ourselves and Mom in the PT and go to Amish Country today. It was a beautiful day, 75, slightly overcast, and DRY!!!
Our first stop was at Rolling Ridge Ranch, which is about 3 miles out of Berlin. Ross and I had never been there before, but Mom had gone several months ago with the Station Break Senior Center. It was absolutely awesome! We chose to drive through in our own car, which meant we had to keep our windows up and stay in the car the whole time. (The next time I go, and there will be a next time, I'm taking the horse-drawn wagon ride!) The animals literally stand in the road. At times we sat for several minutes waiting for them to decide to move.

And then there was the reindeer who chose to lay down with his rear on the road. He didn't move!!! We angled around him!
There were so many good picture opportunities! My favorite though, was the baby camel that wanted to lick the camera while Ross took his picture! (Well, I've tried 5 times to get this picture to load, and it says it is, but it isn't showing up! Sorry folks, maybe another time!)
After Rolling Ridge Ranch, we went to a late lunch at the Amish Door Restaurant. Great food!!! Then we went to Heini's Cheese Shop and the bakery that is across the street from Heini's.
Heini's is a place for CHEESE LOVERS!!!! They have samples of all of the cheeses that they produce. You try, and you buy!!! I love the Bermuda Onion cheese, Ross' favorite is the Peanut Butter cheese fudge. I had to buy Cheddar-Bacon cheese for Jessica, and Jalapeno cheese for Robbie. (I would have bought some for Liz and Dustin, but I don't know how soon I will see them, and it doesn't freeze well.)
Well, I'm really tired, and I have to work 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. I think I will head to bed, now. You all have a lovely evening, and if you ever need to have a fun day (and you are going to be close to Amish Country) e-mail me for direction to Rolling Ridge Ranch! It will make your trip!!

We've been to amish country but not to this particular place, Theresa. It sounds really neat. I'm going to google it and we'll have to give it a try next time we go! And yes, we love the cheese places, too! Especially my husband! It was good to see you at the sweet corn festival!! ((HUGS))
The best place to go in Amish Country, In my opinion...to see beautiful Amish... (that dont smell) LOL is Sugarcreek, and Charm...and maybe I have a little prejudice since I have Amish family that live there....but ohhh so pretty!!!! And yes Sis. Hines the wagon is the way to go at that farm because you can get a pail of food and hang it over the side and the animals will walk right up and eat out of your hands...the kids love it...Glad to hear that you had such a great time... I love Amish country...Pat and I are planning a weekend trip in October down in Amish country...it is SSSOOO beautiful with the leaves changing. We hope to visit my family...they have offered to put us up....but I like my showers...so I think we shall pass!!!! lol and anyhoo I want to show Pat some of the area that I kinda grew up with...and show him some of the Amish country that we have not really got to see yet!!! :-)
