Millersport Sweet Corn Festival, and more...

Our church is now half-way done with our second SFC Fund Raiser for the year, the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival!!! For about 17 years now, our church has run the Sweet Corn Booth for the Lion's Club. We husk it (thank God, usually with a machine), clean it, wash it, cook it, butter it, and serve it!! We, also, man a few other areas, like collecting parking money, the Lost Child center, helping the Sheriff's dept. patrol gates, and sometimes the souvenir stand. It's a 4 day commitment that usually nets the church about $5,000. I like these kind of fund raisers, no car washes, bake sales, or spaghetti dinners to help with!!!

I was able to work last night, but I had to work at the bank until 7 p.m. tonight. (I do NOT want to hear any cracks about "bankers' hours"!! FYI our branch of First-Knox National Bank is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon. -Fri., and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sats.) I will be at the Corn Festival tomorros and all day Saturday!! I'm not sure what I will be doing, but I'll be there. The past couple of years, the Sheriff's Dept. has kidnapped me for gate duty, but if I'm needed in the Corn Booth that is quite all right with me! I do enjoy sitting at the table and cleaning corn.

For anyone who may be interested, my daughter, Liz, is going to be the Month in My Life blogger for Ninety and Nine this month. I'm certainly looking forward to reading her entries this month!! I really miss having her blog to check.

Well, I'm going to close out for now. I have a few e-mails to write and then I really need to get some sleep. I have to be at work at 7 a.m. tomorrow. Have a lovely evening, everyone!!

*Liz here - to do a link in your text: The easiest way is to type your text out first. Then, right click and hit copy on the address bar of the webpage you want to link to. Come back to your post and highlight the text, just like you were going to copy it or cut it. Once it is highlighted, click the green "world" with the chain on your blogger toolbar. A dialog box will come up, paste the link into that box and hit okay. It will bring you back to your post with the text as a link.

Ta da!
