A Trip With A 6 yr. old

The WonderHusband and I decided that Saturday would be a great day to take David Riley to the Ohio Historical Society. DR started hinting last week that "it has been a LONG TIME, Nana, since I got to come to your house and sleep with Papa." Jessica and Robbie had plans to help a friend move, so this worked well for them.
We decided to take a hint from Kathryn, so we let DR handle the camera for the trip. It was quite interesting to see the exhibits thru the eyes of a 6 yr. old. Most things that made the "cut" were animals that had been stuffed, however, there are a few guns, rocks, and trains. The one thing that he absolutely refused to take a picture of was the mummy. "That's just too weird, Papa!" The phrase that we heard the most was, "Now THAT is very odd!"

Here's some pics for your viewing pleasure:
The two-headed calf is STILL the subject of discussion!

"If Daddy can shoot it, I want to take a picture of it!"

"That's a pretty magazine! Can I buy one, Nana?"

"Oh, cool, there's an airplane!"

I know Liz from Gateway and Kentucky things... I have been reading/stalking your site for a few monthes..
I love your blogs especially the ones that include David Riley....
I just encountered the photos from the historical society... Just an idea for your next outing with him. What about a ride in a small plane? My husband flies the small planes (he is on his way to the airlines) but he loves to take kids up. He loves the thrill he sees in thier eyes. Someone took him up when he was 5 and it created a dream in him to fly for the airlines, and he is on his way there.
You could call any small airport for this... A fifteen minute or half an hour ride should be reasonable...
thanks for blogging,
