What Have I Been Doing???

(Sing this to the tune of "On The Road Again")

On the sew again

Just can't wait to get on the sew again

Making pretties for my family and my friends

Oh, I can't wait to get on the sew again

In all of my spare time recently, I have formed quite a bond with my sewing room.

I was already working on a quilt for Abby (no pics until it is finished). AND I had committed to making a special dress for Mistie for her friend's wedding. Not to mention the fact that I have a baby granddaughter (and a second one on the way) that I MUST make some cute girly clothes for.

THEN a few months ago the pastor approached me with an idea for a special men's service and he needed a few prayer mantles created. (He could purchase them for about $15 each already made, but he thought maybe I could find a less expensive option to help him out.) So, I went fabric and trim pricing. The best I could do for him was about $4.50 per mantle, with me donating my time. He jumped on it! Then we started discussing how many he needed and how soon. The few turned out to be 40. By Father's Day. Then we ran out. And so I made 12 more. By the next Sunday. We are still a few short. I'm going Wednesday to buy more material and trim at Zinck's in Berlin. Hopefully, I will be able to make 12 more, and that should be the end. (Please, Jesus!)

This is a picture of Sir Nottaguy-Imadad's prayer mantle. It is very simple--1/2 yard of material with fringe on each end. They are styled along the lines of a Jewish prayer shawl. The pastor had been teaching on the scriptural role of men and their responsibilities, and he gave every man (well, almost!) a mantle to signify their role.

This is a picture of Mistie's pattern and the material that I am making her dress with. It is going to look absolutely beautiful on her! (She looks amazing in red!)

These are the little patterns I'm going to be using to create for the baby girls. I can't wait to go fabric shopping!!! (I love little pantaloons under baby girl dresses! They look so old-fashioned!) I promised myself, though, that I would not go buy material until Mistie's dress and the last of the mantles are finished. (Abby's quilt will be an ongoing project for a little while, yet. I can sew dresses, and still give time to quilting.)
So, what have you been doing in your **cough, cough** spare time???

In my spare time? Trying to catch up on my bible reading program, redding out, organizing, cleaning.....but most of the time, I'm watching and caring for the boy! Which I love!! :-) You are so talented, Theresa! And such a blessing to your church and family! I don't know how you do it all. Oh, and I am in the process of turning our spare bedroom into a sewing/craft room. I'll take pictures! :-)

I so wish that I could have a Sewing room!! I either must take over the kitchen table or the livingroom (depending on the size of the project)

These patterns remind me of the little outfits I used to make for Jeana and her cousin Tara who was the same age. I made little reversable pinafores and dresses, with bloomers to match both sides. So easy to clean up a toddler that way, without having to pack a ton of clothes. Have fun!
