I'm usually absolutely OCD about getting all of my tax stuff completed within the same week.
This year, however, I'm not sure what happened.
My handy, dandy tax preparing daughter, Mrs. Lemon, took care of the federal and state stuff for me in about an hour months ago. (She's a marvelous help that way!) However, she's not able to do our city taxes.
I knew they needed to be done. I kept putting it off. And mislaying all of my information. And finding it again. Then putting it off some more.
Yesterday morning it dawned on me that it was April 14th. City tax forms are due April 15th, just like all other tax forms. In our city it is not enough to have a postmark of April 15, it must be in their hot little hands on that date.
So, I took all of the stuff to work with me, hoping to have time to do them on my lunch hour and then drop them off at the tax office on the way to work this morning. I discovered that (SURPRISE!) we had been selected to be part of a test group to do our city taxes online!!! Grrrrrr! If I wanted to submit them manually, I had to submit a request by April 1st. GRRRRR!!!!
So, last night AFTER church. (When my brain is really mush.) I was online trying to figure out how to get to the website to do my city taxes. I finally figured everything out. About 10:58 p.m. I finished transmitting.
I'm really not against online filing. I love not using postage or paper. I just was not expecting this technology burst from our tiny little city.
Hopefully, my transmission was successful and I will be officially finished with city taxes for this year.
Have a great day, hopefully without too much tax stress!
