Restaurant Etiquette

I frequent a nationwide ice cream chain for lunch because it is across the parking lot from the bank. I usually eat one of the $4.99 lunch specials when I do. Occasionally, I get a sundae for dessert.

Today, I was eating my lunch (a grilled tuna sandwich & fries), reading and minding my own business. The lady at the table next to me, wasn't.

This lady sat down, looked over at my table and told me that I could have had a lower-calorie lunch if I had ordered a salad instead of fries. I just looked up and smiled and told her that I really wanted fries.

A few minutes later, she tells me that the diet soda I was drinking was really bad for me, I should have had water. At this I just looked up at her and then went back to reading without saying anything.

She didn't say anything else until my sundae was delivered. Then she said that I really didn't need that. I looked up and said, "Seriously??!!"

I had never seen this woman before in my life! A total stranger! AND to top it all off, she had to weigh 400+ lbs. (I'm not small, but she was Much larger than me.)

I've never had the urge to tell someone else what to eat when they were a complete stranger sitting at a restaurant. I'm not sure what was motivating her, but I sincerely hope that I never, Ever, EVER happen to be in the same restaurant that she's in again.
