Happy New Year! And All That Stuff!

Well, the weekend was certainly as busy as I anticipated it would be.  I feel kind of like someone was standing behind me tapping me on alternating shoulders and everytime my head swivelled, the scene around me changed.

Oh, wait, maybe that's because for two days (Friday and Saturday) I had 5-6 grandchildren plus their parents in my house.  The scene was changing about that fast!

At any rate, it was lots of fun and it was so good to have as many people as we did.

Friday night, David Riley, Eva, and Zachary spent the night with us.  Eva went to bed at her normal time about 8:30.  ( And we were ALL glad that she did!)  DR and Z stayed up to finish watching an episode of "Blue's Clues".  When I told them it was bedtime, Z immediately said he needed "a snack and that it should be chocolate."  I told him that he couldn't have any chocolate, and DR popped in with "we can share a biscuit."  Z was good with that so while the boys sat in the recliner and talked and ate, I just sat and listened.

When the biscuit was all gone, I told them that it was definitely bedtime.  Z looked at me so seriously and said he needed a bedtime story.  DR knows the routine at our house, and knew that when I say it's bedtime that is not the time to open negotiations, so he jumped in and said he would read a bedtime story and then we could pray.

By the time I got upstairs, the boys were snuggled on the bottom bunk about half-way through the story.  When the story ended, we prayed together, then DR tucked Z in and gave him a BIG hug, and climbed into the top bunk.  As soon as he got up top, he leaned over and asked Z if he needed to go to the bathroom before he went to sleep.  He reminded him that he was a big boy, wearing underpants, and that the bathroom was right through the door.  He, also, told Z that if he needed anything in the night to wake him up instead of Nana.  I asked DR if he was really only 10 yrs. old!?  He laughed at me.

All of the kids slept until after 8 a.m.  I was pleasantly surprised and VERY pleased!  No accidents, no bad dreams, no sleep walking!  It was glorious!

The rest of the weekend was spent visiting and enjoying being together.  Saturday, late afternoon, everyone left for their own homes, and Sir Nottaguy-Imadad declared nap time so that we could enjoy our get together at church for New Year's Eve.  We went, we enjoyed, we came home.

Sunday were services as normal. Then Monday, Sir didn't have to work because New Year's Day landed on a Sunday, so we took advantage of the extra day off to take down the Christmas decorations and set the house back to rights. (Well, sort of.)  Our church is getting ready to start a Daniel Fast on the 9th, so I was intent on getting all of the baked goods out in plain sight so that they can be eaten this week.

I seriously need to clean my refrigerator and kitchen cabinets!  I downloaded an app to my phone that will allow me to track the contents of my pantry to help me keep track of my actual grocery needs.  Before I can enter things into it, though, I really need to organize what I have.  That involves cleaning the pantry, the freezer, the kitchen cabinets, and the refrigerator. ACCKKKKK!

I think 2012 is going to be my year for organization and de-junking.  There's just so MUCH stuff! And I haven't even seriously looked into all of the closets, yet.

Fun times!
