During the 21 days that I was off line, there were some things that occurred that didn't get blogged. For your reading pleasure:
1. Eva turned 3 on the 26th. She has grown so much in the past few months, that she is now solidly in 3T clothes, and some 4T's for length. She actually has enough hair to make ponytails. AND occasionally, she will actually sit still long enough to have her hair done!
2. Jessica hit the big 3-0. My baby girl. How did that happen???
3. My step-mom was moved to a nursing facility in Columbus. The doctors are not giving much hope for any significant recovery. They estimate that she had at least 4 separate major strokes in addition to several small strokes. She is paralyzed on her left side, has no vision in her left eye, no hearing in her left ear, and the left side of her heart is only functioning at 5%. She is quite literally in God's Hands now.
4. I've started seriously looking at homeschooling materials. I'm starting to feel an urgency in my spirit that this is something I NEED to do. I'm praying right now about the goals I want to accomplish with the grandchildren. I'm open to advice from anyone who is or has home schooled. (Val?? Jewel?? Charity??)
5. For the first time in my ENTIRE life, the only indebtedness that we have is our house! God has been very good!!!
Well, I think that's all the major stuff I needed to catch you up on. I'm sure that there will be other things that will come to my mind as soon as I hit "publish". (Don't tell me that never happens to you!)

Congratulations on being almost completely debt free!! How exciting!
And, as a teacher, I give you tremendous kudos for homeschooling your kiddos! I'm one of the most pro-homeschooling public school teachers you'll ever meet. It's safe to say I have my reasons! We have a stellar church school, but, if we didn't, I would absolutely homeschool any future children of ours.
I was schooled primarily with ACE (Accelerated Christian Education), and it works very well for homeschool WITH some supplements. In our church school, we have tweaked it, and we now use Saxon Math for the upper math and we have replaced the middle school literature with our own curriculum that focuses more on the classics. We also supplement with some writing instruction.
What's nice about it is that students work at their own pace and it's designed that you don't have to know every single thing to teach them. You can learn with them. They also have some computer options. :)
Honestly, I don't think there is one particular curriculum that is best all on it's own...mixing and matching is definitely the way to go. Good luck!! :)
