Today has been a pretty good day. It was Columbus Day, and even though our bank was opened and running regular hours all day, it was pretty slow. Many people didn't realize that we were opened! That gave us time to catch up on all of our busy work. You know, filing, cleaning drawers and cabinets, rearranging supplies so that co-workers won't know where to look for them. (Oops, that wasn't supposed to be told!)
I, also, heard from my niece, Megan, who lives in Texas, and finally decided to answer an e-mail. (Just kidding, she's a single mom, who works a demanding job! I understand limited time!!) It was still nice to know that she does occasionally find a half-minute to stay in touch!!! She's got the most adorable little-big boy named Aron. He loves reading, and will probably get more books for Christmas. If he can stay on the "Good List" ;)
This weekend was a lot of fun. I worked Sat., but then I just sat and read most of the evening! What a glorious treat!!! Yesterday morning, my pastor, Duane Kramer preached a very thought-provoking message titled "My House Is Too Little". Then last night, one of my favorite young preachers (see blog from 9/25/05), Don Ryan, preached about "Think Inside the Box". He referred to the contents of the Ark of the Covenant (the golden pot of manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the Table of the Law) and how after the Philistines had stolen it, the only thing left in the Ark was the Table of the Law. The golden pot of manna represented the provision of God; Aaron's rod represented the miraculous Power of God; and the Table of the Law represented the Word of God. The Philistines were only interested in being provided for and seeing the results of miracles. They left the most important thing in the box, The Word, which is really all we need. Because if we have the Word (John 1:1, 14) then we have the God of the Word. The provision and the miracles really mean nothing if you don't have the God that brings them.
Also, last night was the dedication service for my new "grandson" , Hunter Daniel. I'll post pictures as soon as I can!
