For the past several days, I have been absolutely enchanted by one of the baby squirrels that inhabit a tree in my front yard.

There are 5 babies, if I'm counting correctly. There is one little squirrel that is apparently more of a wanderer than the others. He frequently appears on my back deck (which is not the safest place since my Rat Terrier has rightly figured that squirrels and rats are similiar, therefore LUNCH!). On Monday, he was posing for me on the front porch. This morning, my mother caught him head down in the bag of bird seed. He didn't even run, just upended and stuck his head out and continued eating.

I, also, have two pairs of gold finches nesting close to our house and they love coming to eat at the thistle sock that's hanging in my yard. They are so pretty and I love hearing them sing to each other.
I believe that the mourning doves must have finally laid their eggs. Momma dove seemed considerably slimmer this morning, and pappa dove didn't show up until she had left. Does anyone know how long it takes for mourning dove eggs to hatch???
Well, I'm going to get outside and replenish the feeders. Have a wonderful day, Folks!!!
