I had my evening all planned.
Come home, change clothes, grab a quick bite to eat, and then head to Ninja John's to help paint and get the new house ready for moving day. The operative word in that first sentence would be "had".
Sir Nottaguy-Imadad went to the basement to get his drill and the power stirrer for the paint. While he was down there, he noticed a puddle had formed at the bottom of our deep freezer. Not a good sign. Then he discovered that the reason would be because it had gotten unplugged when he moved the ladders to change the furnace filter. On! Wednesday!!!
After opening the door, we discovered that everything was mostly defrosted. There was still ice on the shelves, so the temperature was about comparable to a refridgerator. Then we began the task of hauling everything upstairs and sorting through what could be cooked and salvaged and what had to be trashed. Thank the Good Lord, I only lost one package of pork steaks and one package of deer steaks.
HOWEVER! I now have 3 large bowls of beef vegetable soup, 4 large bowls of vegetarian vegetable soup, 5 pounds of browned ground beef, 2 pan-fried pork chops, a pound of stir-fried steak, and 2 pounds of cooked chicken in the freezer. I'm still cooking potato soup and my crockpot is full of turkey vegetable soup. Needless to say, suppers are going to be easy for a little while!
While I was cooking, Sir Nottaguy-Imadad was busy cleaning the freezer--so everything went into a nice clean defrosted freezer in some sort of order.
I'm tired! It's a really good thing that I don't have to be at work until 11 tomorrow. I'm not usually happy about late nights, but this time it's working to my benefit.
Have a good night, Folks!

Wow....you DID make something good out of a bad situation! You now have all of this food PREPARED and all you have to do is reheat it! I've been in a similar situation...a freezer unplugged....and it can be overwhelming at first...but then you just do what you have to do, hm? Hope the rest of your week goes better! ((HUGS))
You should be so glad that you found the freezer before everything started to stink! Before I married Capt it happened to him and the smell was the worse thing ever!!! Rotting meat is horrible.
Let me know what how you like the book, you're welcome. I'm going to see the movie when it comes out.
Oh wow, good work making good out of an overwhelming bummer!
