A Long Over-Due Post

I don't usually do book reviews, but I'm making an exception for "Marley & Me"!

My blog friend, Theresa, mentioned a while back that she was reading the book. I asked her to let me know what she thought, but, instead, she mailed the book to me. Now, I took that as a giant hint of what she thought.

So, like any good reader, I plunged right in and started reading.

OH! MY! WORD! What a great book!

I laughed until I had trouble breathing over the chapter about obedience school. I cried in places. I shook my head in wonder at some of the things that Marley did. (However, I've had a few incorrigible dogs and I'm well versed in their creative thinking!)

I know the movie is out, and most people will be more likely to go watch the movie, but I don't think that any movie can do the book justice.

There were a few words that should have been deleted, but overall the book is a great read and I will highly recommend it to you all.

Theresa, thanks so much for sharing! I hope you and your hubby enjoyed the movie!

Your welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book.

Yes, we enjoyed the movie! Most of the audience were crying, bawling at times.

But you are right, the movie wasn't as great as the book. And Jennifer Aniston looked like she had botox in her face and my husband and I kept thinking about how weird/slightly different she looked, taking our focus off of the story.

I'm not sure if it is just that I am such a book-a-holic, or that my imagination works better, but I ALWAYS prefer to read books over seeing movies. (Except with the BBC version of "Pride and Prejudice"--now THAT is a well-done movie!!)

"Marley & Me" certainly provided imagination fodder for me! I could just about visualize some of the scenes!

Happy New Year! Thanks for info on Marley & Me... Will have to decide between reading or watching... Like you, I generally prefer to read, but things have been so busy I might have to watch instead.

The movie is never ever ever as good as the book! I can't watch movies of books I've read...too disappointing!
Thanks for the review! The new semester is about to start and I won't be able to do much fun reading but I'm making a list for my between semester reading! lol!
