As I was crossing the parking lot on my way back from lunch today, I heard a dog frantically barking. It sounded like it was behind me. I turned to look and what should my wondering eyes behold???
A medium-sized boxer with part of his chain still attached chasing a small buck (white-tail variety) across the bank parking lot.
During the noon rush.
On the third of the month. (Social Security checks arrived today, for those who are wondering)
They came up from the creek bank at the back of the lot and cut cross ways to the culvert that runs beside the bank. The deer was managing to stay about two jumps ahead, but just barely.
Definitely not a sight you expect to see in the middle of the day in town!

Deer do crazy things on gun week. Yeah this morning on the way to town at 9:00am, I was witness to two seperate herds of deer running franticly from one side of 13 to the other.
Goodness... That was a sight. Poor deer. Hope the dog got back to its owner safely.
I hope both the dog and the deer were okay in the end.
Hey, I am new here! What a great blog :)
That sounds like something that would happen here in the boondocks. My granddog is a boxer and he loves chasing deer.
Hey, Theresa, come on over to my blog!! I have something there for you!!
That's amazing! Too bad you didn't have a camera!!
