A Refreshing Weekend!

Friday and Saturday were absolutely the best days of Bible Quizzing I have had so far in my life! There is something so wonderful about being surrounded by people of all ages that are committed to memorizing the Word of God and having fun doing it!

Truly, I could talk all day about the marvelous attitudes of the kids (ages 4-12) even when their teams lost. There would be a flurry of competitiveness until the quiz was ended, and then the kids would be out playing with each other 20 minutes later, without any malice!

Through the years, Sir Nottaguy-Imadad and I have found a few of the parents/coaches/ministers that we have forged friendships with, and it was soooooo good to just sit and talk with them. Actually, on Friday, the quizzing dinner was over and most of the folks had left by 5:30, but there was a core of us that just kept hanging out, talking and sharing and enjoying being together until nearly 8 p.m.

Then, we had a surprise guest speaker Sunday morning. Bro. McKemy is probably one of my favorite evangelists. He plays the harmonica (not every body's favorite instrument) and speaks with a distinct Southern drawl. He pokes fun at himself and anyone else that he deems is good-natured enough to take it. And he gets you laughing so hard that he can punch you in the mouth with the Word and not bloody your lips. Yesterday, he gave an encouraging message about "The Killin' of the Miracle". He was talking about the priests and scribes plotting to kill Lazarus because so many Jews were believing on Jesus because of Lazarus' resurrection. Then he talked about the things that keep trying to kill our joy about the miracles in our lives. It was one of the things I needed to hear.

The other thing I needed to hear, came last night as Bro. Stan Cook sang an old Dottie Rambo song "When I Lift Up My Head". Part of the chorus says, "When I lift up my head, then He lifts up my heart, and my burdens just all roll away."

I love when I leave a very busy weekend really feeling refreshed and rested rather than frantic and exhausted.
