Oh, Yes, So Very Impartial

WARNING:  Sarcasm will bounce right off of that title and hit you square in between the eyes.

I just returned from the doctor's appointment that my employer set up just to verify that I really am as injured as my doctor says and as the MRI scans show.

This doctor is a physiotherapist.  His specialty supposedly is in figuring out why the specific body part doesn't work and what it will take to get it working again.

His first words (after he introduced himself) were to inform me that he is an impartial second opinion for my Worker's Compensation case.

He went right to work after a brief question and answer session about the "supposed" cause of my physical problem.  He poked, prodded, stretched, and rotated both my ankle and my knee until I was in tears.  When the burning nerve pain started and the muscle spasms, he asked if I could keep my leg still until he finished his exam.

After he was finished, I asked if I could get a copy of his notes.  He said he couldn't do that since my employer was paying him.  He had to turn his notes and findings in to them first, and then my lawyer could request a copy.  I asked why my rights as a patient didn't allow me a copy, and he said, since I wasn't paying the bill, my rights ended when I allowed him to start the exam.

Impartial??   Yeah, I don't feel so very confident in that!
