Quizzing Toledo Style!!!

Well, what a great weekend this has been so far!!!!! As I mentioned in my last blog, we headed to Toledo, Ohio, Friday for a Junior Bible Quizzing Tournament!! What fun!!!!!!

Friday night, even though there was no quizzing going on, the First Apostolic Church of Toledo, opened up their Family Life Center for a get together. They served the most scrumptious, authentic Mexican food!!!!!! The salsa was the best stuff I have ever had. It had a little spice to it, but not enough to give you a major melt-down. They also did a skit for the kids and had a pinata. I'm not sure who had more fun with the pinata, the kids or the adults!!!! One thing for sure, once that thing broke open, there were no adults fast enough to reach the spot where the candy was coming out!!!!!

Saturday was amazing. We had 14 Junior Quizzing teams show up for the tournament. 13 were from Ohio, and Ypsilanti, MI, sent a team. The Mount Vernon teams did not place as teams for trophies, however, Alison Redmond was 1st place on the All Tournament Team and Rachelle Dolan was 2nd place!!! All of the quizzers this weekend had fantastic attitudes and, despite the fact that they were competing against each other, there were a lot of new friendships developing!!!! It was great to have the Michigan team with us, and it was fun to watch the Ohio kids (who have been building friendships all year) reaching out and including the Michigan kids in their groups.

Bible Quizzing is just one of the BEST programs that I have ever been involved with, or seen to help kids develop strength of character, the ability to compete in a Godly manner, and draw close to God all at the same time. If you have kids, they need to be involved in Bible Quizzing!!! It will establish them!!! (I am now stepping off of the soap box!!!)

Just a quick side-note. The Lancaster/Mount Vernon Intermediate Quiz Team took 1st place at the South East Regional Extavaganza in North Carolina!!!! I'm so excited for them!!!!!!

Well, my pillow is yelling at me (it does that a lot these days) so I am going to go take a quick nap!!! Have a lovely rest of the weekend!!!!

Oh, by the way, I just want to say "Thank you very much!!!!" to my daughter for redecorating my blog!!!!!!! I was getting a little bored with pinks and purples, so I asked her for help!! I'm really lovin' the greens!!!!! (It is my favorite color!!!)
