Ross and I are getting really good at pulling off surprise parties! This is the second one this month!!!
My sister-in-law, Beth, and my niece, Shevaughn, came down for Mom's 86th birthday on Saturday. We decided to see how much of the family could show up with little notice. We scored pretty high!
The top two pictures are of my Mom with her birthday cakes (yes, plural!). Shevaughn decided to bake individual cakes for each of us. Mom had to lick hers to make sure no one else was going to eat off of it!!! The next 3 pictures are (r to l) : my brother, Paul, his wife Jean, and Mom; Shevaughn and Jessica; Beth and Paul. We are at my Mom's favorite restaurant, La Paloma for lunch.
The last picture is of Mom with her birthday gift from Beth -- my brother Bob's Veteran's flag. This caused more than a few tears. But what a great gift!!!
This wasn't the only tear-jerker of the day. When Paul walked into my house wearing one of Bob's hats, we all lost it. He looks so much like Bob, and talks like him!!! However, despite the tears, we all managed to make sure that Mom knew we were celebrating her!
