Jumping from Subject to Subject...

Well, here's my blog for the last few days. It seems that since I've started back to work, I really don't want to be on the computer much at home.

Let's catch up on the past few days. Last Tuesday was a quiet day. I don't think I did much after work except fix supper. Wednesday was my day off, and boy did it get filled up fast!! First, I hit snooze about 2 too many times, and didn't get out of bed until 9:15. (Not a good start for a busy day!) I had a lunch reservation at the Kenyon Inn at 11, so I had to go into high gear right away to get my shower taken and hair tamed before I left the house. After lunch I went to The Kid's Garden and picked up David Riley so that he could get a haircut before he started school. (The buzz had finally grown out enough that we could consider doing his normal "high and tight".) However, the girl that called Riley's name, didn't have a clue what a "high and tight" was and kept asking me what kind of guard she needed to use. I finally gave up and told her to just cut the sides as close as possible and we'd call it quits.

After a full afternoon of shopping, Riley and I headed home to make supper and get ready for church. (Riley is a great kid to take shopping! From the time he was old enough to know what a Hot Wheel was, he was told that if he behaved well and didn't ask for stuff while we were shopping that he could pick out any Hot Wheel he wanted. He's only not gotten a Hot Wheel 4 or 5 times in 5 years. I'd say that this bribe really works and is worth it!!)

On Thursday, Riley started Kindergarten. Wow, it just doesn't seem possible! His big thrill of the day, was getting to use his own markers to color a paper. (Normally, we restrict his coloring to crayons for clean up purposes.) He was also pretty excited that his daddy took him to lunch at McD's before he took him to school.

Friday and Saturday were really busy at work. After work, Saturday, we went to visit my father-in-law, Dick. He's partially laid up with a small fracture to his left ankle. He was trying to show someone how to hammer something together when he missed and hit himself. That's what happens when you are looking around and not paying attention to where the hammer's headed!! He'll be okay once the swelling stops, but he has diabetes, and so the healing is slow. Ross and I, also, were invited to one of the teenager's birthday parties on Sat. evening. That was great fun, because it was a total surprise!! (That makes 3 for this month!)

Yesterday was marvelous!!! We had a one day Family Crusade with Bruce and Jamie Borlik, and was it an awesome time! The Borliks' are some of the most effective children's evangelists that I have ever seen. And they have the wonderful ability to make even the oldest person feel like they have to be involved in the service, no just sitting back and listening when they are around!!!! Ross (who has a very, VERY warped sense of humor), says that talking with Bro. Borlik is just like talking to himself!

Well, today has been one of my not so bright or coordinated days!! I'm not sure what I was thinking this morning, but I decided to wear a brand new pair (not broken in) of shoes to work today. My feet started screaming at me about 11:30. I got home and put my slippers on as fast as I could tonight. I've, also, had a problem with tipping drinks over for some reason. (5 so far!)I think the pain in my feet must have been affecting my coordination!!!

I'm going to have to get off of here. I'm starting a new Sunday School class this Sunday, and I need to get my notes and a survey typed. Please pray for me. I love teaching young adults, but I'm a little leary about some of the response I'm going to get out of the younger crowd. I'll be teaching 18-35 years olds, both single and married, so I'll have a fairly wide range of ages/experiences to deal with. I know what the Lord has been dealing with me about teaching for the first few weeks, but I'm not sure how some of them are going to respond. I'll keep you posted as to how the class goes. Have a great week!!!

Okay, I must have a sick sense of humor or something, but when I read about your father-in-law whacking his ankle, I just about died laughing! I mean, I'm sorry for his pain and discomfort, but it was just sooo funny. I do hope he is doing well, BUT it was funny...*feeble grin*
Oh, and girl, we know better than to wear new shoes to work, don't we? Why do we do this to ourselves???? I always took extra shoes to work. Would you believe I used to be able to wear small pumps to work? *sigh* I am still wearing flat shoes. *sigh* I would so like to wear just an eensy weensy heel, at least with my nicer dresses and skirts.
Love you!
