Okay, Folks, I really need your help praying right now, because I'm not exactly sure how to pray or what to pray for.
Sunday morning, instead of getting to go to church and teach my Sunday School class, as planned, I was sitting in the KCH Emergency Room with my mother. On Friday, she had used a nasal spray 3 times in 15 hours, instead of once every 12 hours as prescribed. She didn't tell us this until Saturday morning. Well, we didn't really know what to do, or what to expect so we figured we would wait and see what happened. By Sunday morning she was weak, wheezing, and coughing so hard that she could hardly catch her breath.
After the doctors (and nurses and techs) ran all of the tests and x-rays, they determined that she was dealing with a mild case of congestive heart failure due to overuse of the nasal spray. They sent her home with Lasix and told her to see her family doctor. Well, that appointment was today. The doctor says that the x-rays show a small shadowed area on her heart and he suspects that she may have had a silent heart attack within the past several months. He's sending her for a stress test (non-treadmill type) next week to determine the extent of damage in her heart. He has stated plainly that she is not a surgical candidate because with all of the health issues he doesn't feel she would survive even an angioplasty. The tests are solely to confirm the amount of damage and determine if medication and diet could help.
I feel like I have been punched in the gut!!! It's been less than 3 months since I lost my brother, and even though Mom is 86, I'm just not emotionally able to deal with the added stress of a serious health condition right now.
I need you, my friends, right now more than I ever have. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks!!
