UPCI General Conference 2006 -- My View

WOW!!!! What a week! This is the first time that Ross and I have been able to go to more than one service of General Conference, and I am sooooo glad that we took the vacation time to do this! I feel more recharged spiritually than I have in a couple of months. Every service was literally Holy Ghost power-packed!

Wednesday was the Pentecostal Music Association Expo, and it was one of the best put-together concerts I have ever seen. When the PMA Mass Choir sang you could just feel the waves of glory roll. And Sis. Mickey Mangun sang a song that was a prayer from her heart. You could see it in her face and hear it in her voice. POWERFUL!!! Oh, and being there Sunday night for the Outreach Service was almost mind-boggling. To see more than 1100 people receiving the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues, and watching the 80+ people getting baptized in Jesus' Name, was just almost more than my mind could comprehend!

But the really best part of General Conference, for me, was on Saturday. We had David Riley with us for the weekend. (I know he's young, but I figured it would be a while before GC came back to Columbus, and I wanted him to have the experience.) We got there in time for the Children's Church service on Saturday, and what a wonderful time that was. Children's Evangelists are absolutely the BEST PEOPLE in the world!! Bro. O'Brien was taking time to introduce himself to several of the kids that had come early, and when he got to David Riley, he squatted down so that he was eye-level with him. They talked about school and toys and high-fived each other, then Bro. O'Brien asked David Riley if he had the Holy Ghost. David said he didn't, but that he wanted it. Bro. O'Brien told him to come up at the end of Children's Church and he could pray for it. As soon as they said anything about going to the altar, David Riley was out of his seat, and standing in front of Bro. O'Brien. I caught this picture with my cell phone, so it's a little grainy.

There was also a confirmed sighting of my daughter, Liz, and her husband, Dustin. As you can see, The Boy had to get in the picture, too. (He's kind of partial to his aunt and uncle!!) Well, I'm having trouble getting the pic of the kids to post. I'll try it later and see if it works.

Well, I'm going to close out for now. I know I will be posting again, be on the lookout for "A Word to the Whys".
