This week has somehow flown past, and I'm not really sure why.
Well, maybe that's not exactly true.
This week, Jessica has done three night shifts in a row. That means that Eva spent two nights with us. (It would have been three, but David Riley was missing his sister in his room * and Rob was missing cuddling the little princess before bed, so she spent last night at home.)
Putting a two yr. old to bed and then getting her back up in the morning hasn't been part of my daily routine for a long time. She needed to be at the daycare by 9:30 or so each morning and then had to be picked up by 3 so that I could be at the school to get David Riley by 3:30. I've been frustrated each day, that the daycare workers are not putting her down for a nap or quiet time at all. That means by 5:30 or 6, she has turned into "The Monster" as her big brother calls her.
*Several months ago, David Riley asked if they could move Eva's bed into his room. Since she kept climbing into his bed at night anyway, he figured maybe they would both sleep better if they shared a room. He seems to have had the right idea. They both sleep better, BUT if one of them is away, it is traumatic. I think it's great that he likes sharing a room with his "baby" sister, but I know it won't last much longer. He is 10, and it will only be a couple of years until his privacy will be more important.
I really feel like I haven't gotten much done, but I did manage to finish a special project that has to remain a surprise for a little while. I'm hoping that I can get some housework done today. My floors look awful, AND I have several spiders that seem to think that they are going to make their autumn and winter homes on my front porch, but it ain't happening! I, also, need to get some sewing finished pronto so that I can get some clothes made for myself. Some of my skirts and dresses are now past patching again, and just need to be replaced.
Tomorrow is our church's annual hog roast and hayride. I'm looking forward to the fun and fellowship. There will be lots of food and lots of time to chat and catch up with all those folks that I don't get to talk to on a regular basis. My brother-in-law and his wife and granddaughters have said they may come, too. I'm playing around with a couple of new recipes to take with me. If they turn out right, I'll share sometime next week.
One thing on my To-Do list for today is searching for a beginning drum kit for David Riley. He decided he really wanted to learn percussion to be in the band. It doesn't surprise me at all. He's always tapping on something or patting his foot or "playing his knees" when any kind of music is playing. And he loves his Mom's harmonic wind chimes.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
