Updated at the bottom.
Last night Sir Nottaguy-Imadad and I drove to another town to pick a friend up from her nursing class and drive her home. (She's been having some transportation issues and she's only got 28 days of classes left to finish.) We decided to stop for supper at our favorite fast-food Italian restaurant for supper.
As we were leaving the restaurant, a black wasp bounced into the car, landed on my arm and proceeded to vent its displeasure by stinging me just below the bend of my elbow. I ALWAYS react badly to wasp stings! Not only do they hurt, but I swell terribly.
We made a fast stop at Largest Retailer to pick up some Afterbite and Benedryl. Within an hour I had a 3" area that was red and swollen. I got home and applied ice packs. By bedtime, the swelling was more than 4" long and about 6" wide. This morning--from my elbow to my wrist is swollen, red and HOT!
My doctor's office manager is going to put me on his ugly list, but I am going to camp out in that waiting area until my doctor sees me today.
About 2 years ago, I got stung by a sweat bee on my leg and ended up with cellulitis. I don't relish repeating that performance with my arm.
I'd appreciate your prayers.
Update:
I have now had a cortisone shot and picked up a prescription for prednisone. The doctor told me to keep my arm wrapped in cold, wet towels and keep it elevated to help reduce the swelling. Also, DON'T SCRATCH!

Sounds as if you might be a candidate for carrying the shot of whatever it is just in case. That's a nasty reaction...rotten old wasp.
Oh no!!! I'm praying for you and hope all is well with that arm. Yes, it sounds like you should be carrying something with you at all times, theresa....please? ((HUGS)) Love you!
