If I had actually gotten around to posting yesterday my title would have been a take off of the old 5th Dimension's hit "Last Night I Couldn't Get To Sleep At All". I would have rewritten the title to "Last Night I Couldn't Stay Asleep At All".
Eva was having a very, Very Bad Night! It started out with nightmares. (The sit up in the middle of the bed screaming at the top of your lungs, versions.) It progressed to two wet bed episodes. And then she started sleep-walking. I think she was just homesick, but I'm not sure. Her mother used to do the same kind of things when she was worried about something.
The three little girls in my preschool were not playing well, listening well, or obeying well yesterday. (I thought maybe it was a full moon!) At one point, I had a flashback to my daughters. Eva and J were in the middle of the backyard having an old-fashioned screaming, yelling, hair-pulling fight! As I was headed over to separate them, I yelled "Liz, Jess, I mean Eva, J..., stop that right now!" (My grandson, David Riley, was laughing so hard at me, I thought he was going to hurt himself!) If the girls are just arguing about things, I try to let them resolve it alone, because I think that the sooner they learn to problem solve without adult interference the better, but when it gets physical I step in. I was doing a lot of stepping in yesterday!!
Once the moms had picked up their daughters, DR, Eva and I had to go to the BMV so that I could get my drivers license renewed. Oh! The! Joy! In about the middle of the interrogation, I told the lady at the counter that she could ask any question she wanted as long as she didn't inquire into my sanity. Without missing a beat or looking up, she said "Honey, if we granted license based on sanity, there would be very few drivers in this state!" I at least got a good chuckle out of that. However, while I'm trying to take care of my business, Eva was sneaking up on anyone sitting in a chair and piking them in the back/shoulder and yelling "Boo!". DR couldn't keep her distracted with reading a book to her (that usually works), she didn't want to color on my phone (that usually works), she didn't want to stand with me, she just wanted to be obnoxious. As soon as I got the kids back home, I told her to lay on the couch and watch the birds fly past the window to the bird feeders, 1.5 minutes later, she was sound asleep, and slept for 3 hours.
Rob decided he had had enough of the quiet house, so he came and got the kids last night after supper. I hope they all slept well. I know I certainly did!!!

Now that's an honest post! ☺
Some days go better than others. We had the boys a few weeks back. They were nicely pinned into their car seats mercifully or they'd have been at each other's throats. At one point I said to John, "Pull over at your earliest convenience." We did. We sat waiting. We waited some more. Finally, one of them asked why we'd stopped to which I replied. "John can't drive safely with that much racket in the car. If you can't talk softly and nicely to each other, we won't be going home." Worked like a charm.
