I Love Missionary Services...

I really do!!! I have always had a soft spot for missionaries, especially when they feel soooo burdened for the country that they will be ministering to that they can barely talk without crying. We had one of those yesterday.

Joel and Lisa Richardson will be going to the country of Gabon (it's a small country in Africa) as soon as they complete their fundraising. Joel was raised in Madagascar by missionary parents, so this is not a new venture for him. (Actually, Joel is a 3rd generation missionary.) While they were showing their slide presentation, Lisa, was describing a certain area where the natives still perform human sacrifices in the rain forest. She started talking about how her heart hurt so much thinking about the needless waste of life to idols that have no power, and she started to just sob. Then she made the most powerful statement: "My heart hurts for them, but my spirit is energized, because satan we are coming after you! You are not going to keep them in darkness any longer." I mean she just flat out declared spiritual warfare!! Those are the types of missionaries, that I just want to climb in their suitcases and go with. You know they are going to get the gospel out and see lives changed!

I've always had a burden for missions, too, Theresa. I remember a missionary's wife who told of when she went on the mission field: Her husband had gone ahead of her. I can't remember the country they were assigned to, but it was quite remote and primitive. When she finally arrived, she told of being at the top of a hill, looking down at the village and when the people there caught sight of her, they started running up the hill to her, so she took off running toward them, and she said that they were crying and she was crying and she said she had the overwhelming feeling that after all of the years she had lived, she had finally come home. It was so overwhelmingly touching. And to think that she had never been there before and still this emotional connection existed between her and the people of this country and village. God does all things so well and perfectly, hm? ((HUGS))

I did not get to see their presentation because I was in SS class helping out, but we did manage to sneak a look about the time that she spoke about declaring war. It was powerful. And actually her maiden name is Enders. Lisa Enders, and Liz we grew up with her at camp. I talked to her yesterday morning and mentioned a few names from camp and that we remembered most. Anissa Hines, Liz, Deborah Parrish, Sarah Darst...and the list continues she said to plaese pass her hello's on by....

I wonder who Anonymous is? But Lisa's sister Bethany was my partner in crime, we drove Lisa nuts mostly. :)

Anonymous would be Jana. She has trouble remembering to put her name in the comment. And yes, you and Bethany did drive Lisa nuts, and a few other people. Jessica still can go ballistic about the prank you two played on her!!!
