Well, it's time to start a new Junior Bible Quizzing season. Tomorrow is the first quiz of the year for the Ohio District UPCI, and it is being hosted by the great folks at Turnpoint Apostolic Church in Groveport, Ohio.
I love Bible Quizzing!!! There is nothing, NOTHING better than being around kids from 5 years old and up that have spent time memorizing Bible verses! These kids are competitive, and yet they have the best sporting attitudes I have ever seen. They can get just as excited over someone else winning a trophy or a ribbon as they do when they get one. It is soooooo wonderful to see!
I think one of the best benefits, is the fact that they never completely lose what they have memorized. Years down the road I have watched some of the people that I have coached as they quote a verse along with our pastor as he reads it from his Bible. Five year down the road, they may not be able to give you a word-for-word quote, but they are usually pretty close and they can usually tell you where a verse is found once they've memorized it.
Well, I'm going to step off the soap box now, but I guarantee you will be hearing lots about Bible Quizzing for the next 6 months. We have one tournament each month, so I'll try to make sure I only post it once a month. (But there's no guarantee **big grin**)
