On Sunday I joined the smart phone crowd. I had been playing with the idea of getting a new phone for several months, but when David Riley's phone was stolen while Jessica's family was on vacation in Arizona, it kind of ramped up.
DR (almost 10 yrs. old) being at home (or at my house) without any way to communicate in case of an emergency just gives me palpitations! I have no problem with him being alone, don't get me wrong, but only if he has some way to get help if something were to come up.
So, back to me. I stopped at the V store on Sunday afternoon to see what was available on my upgrade package, and what the prices were on some of the new phones I was interested in.
I went in knowing that I was NOT at all interested in an i-phone or a Droid. I walked out with a Droid Pro.
I went in knowing that I wanted a phone with a real keyboard, Droid Pro has one. It, also, has a touch screen, but the keyboard was the selling point for me. I, also, found out that my company has an agreement with V, so I get a discount on my monthly bill just for showing my paystub.
Now, DR has my old phone, and I have a new toy. AND believe me!!!! it is a toy! I can't believe the number of apps that are free for downloading to my new phone. Probably my two favorites at this point are a complete KJV Bible and the Kindle.
Last night, I was scanning through the Kindle books at Amazon and came across "The Complete Works of Louisa May Alcott" for $1.00. As a young girl I fell in love with her writings. As a young mother reading aloud to her daughters, I fell in love all over again. Now as a grandmother, I'm re-reading them in preparation for reading aloud to grandchildren. I think even our "big" boy will enjoy being read "Under the Lilacs" and "Jack and Jill".
