I am soooooo glad that July 4th landed in the middle of the week this year!!! I love July 4th because I'm an unashamed patriot, but, also, because of all of the wonderful memories this holiday brings to my mind.
Years and years of going to the Patrick Family Reunion at Bass Lake, Hinton, WV!! Long summer nights of firecrackers and sparklers and chasing my cousins around. Swimming and playing in the Greenbrier River.
Going to the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus, and being a part of the Independence Day celebration at the Ohio Village. Picnics under the apple trees in the orchard. Horse drawn wagon rides. Real lemonade. A fried chicken sandwich that you just about can't hold onto with both hands.
Yesterday, the WonderHusband and I decided to go to the Flea Market at Sunbury, OH. We spent about 2 hours there. I found a couple of nice purses. He found a box of Rescue Heroes to add to his toy room. Then we stopped in a visited with his dad for a little while. (His dad is not in good health, so we try to get over there as often as possible.)
Then the fun really began....
We went home and picked up a cooler full of cold soda pop, some hot dogs, hamburgers, and buns and headed to Jessica's and Robbie's house for a cookout. Mom felt well enough to go, so there were six adults and David Riley. Well, the little man was in his prime since he was sure that he had the undivided attention of all six adults!!! He had to do all of his knock-knock jokes, and then tell us everything we never wanted to know about aliens.
After we finished eating (well, actually, BEFORE) we decided that the day just would not be complete if we didn't make a trip to J's & R's cabin and play in the river for a while. So, we took Mom and leftovers home. Changed clothes, grabbed towels, and headed up to Nellie, OH. We played in the river for about 2 hours. By that time, the WonderHusband and I were so tired, we couldn't stop yawning! We headed home and left everyone else out by the fire ring preparing to make S'mores.
I slept soooooo well!!!!
I reallllyyy need more days like that!

you do need more days like that. I think you should work part time. but that is my humble, unasked for, and ALSO unsolicited advice.
:) love you!
Glad you had a great day! You certainly needed it ... I can only imagine the stress you're dealing with in trying to re-train you mother for a new lifestyle. That's hard work!
Sounds like just a perfect July 4th, Theresa! Especially, the playing in the river part! I remember going to the river here and swimming and playing but I don't think I could get down to the river now. *sigh* But I have some wonderful memories! *smile*
