Today is my mother's 87th birthday. Quite the accomplishment, considering the majority of her family tend to die in their mid-50's.
To celebrate, she started yesterday by going out with my brother, Paul, and his wife, Jean, to her favorite Mexican restaurant, La Paloma. Then, she went for a short visit at their farm.
Today, she went to OUR favorite Mexican restaurant, Fiesta Mexicana. The servers all came out and sang to the "Vieja" and crowned her with one of their sombreros.
They, also, gave her a fried ice cream as their present. She decided to top off the day a little differently than most people. We wound up making an ER run around 3:45 pm, because she was having so much trouble breathing, and the Albuterol that I gave her wasn't giving her any relief. She is now comfortably ensconced in one of our local hospital's comfortable rooms for at least an over-night stay. The general consensus is bronchitis, with a possible touch of pneumonia.
We would certainly appreciate all of your prayers for Mom as she battles this infection.

Well, that's a stinky way to spend a birthday. I'm definately praying for her. Tell the "vieja" (haha, that's awesome) I said Happy Birthday. Again.
Prayers are going up for the sweetie! Wish her a Happy Birthday from us.
