Sweet Corn Festival Time

I know that last year, I mentioned the Sweet Corn Festival that is held in Millersport, OH. It is run by the Lions' Club, and is a 4 day long celebration of Sweet Corn and all other types of fair foods!

Our church has been working for the Lions' Club for umpteen years now, cleaning, cooking, buttering, and selling sweet corn. Usually, we go through at least 1 1/2 semi-trucks worth. (By the end of the festival, I am sick of the sight and smell of sweet corn!)

The past couple of years, I have been tagged to help guard gates for the Sherriff's department. This frees up a deputy to patrol the grounds, and still keeps unauthorized people from entering certain gates. This, also, means that David Riley gets to spend more time with me, because, OF COURSE, I bring the cool toys and books!!!

Last night, one of the other little boys from our church asked if he could stay with me and DR so he could play for a little while. I gave permission, so his grandmother left him with me. Now, this little boy comes from a "rough and rowdy" family, so his idea of playing usually involves physical contact. He and DR played for a little while, and then all of a sudden DR had had ENOUGH! The next words out of DR mouth were: "Why don't you go find your own grandmother!"

Yes, Folks! I could not stop giggling for a while!!!
