Christmas, Part 2

Yesterday afternoon was Christmas, Part 2 for our family.

We all descended on my brother-in-law's, Steve's, house around 1 p.m. There were 20 people (of various ages, shapes, and sizes) packed into 3 rooms on the first floor. And packed is the correct term.If you moved your feet, you definitely lost your seat, because there weren't enough seats to go around. The only one that was immune from "seat loss" was my mother, because everyone knows that she parks on one corner of Steve's couch, and no one was going to deprive the oldest person in the house of "her" spot.

We ate until we were all about to bust open, and then (of course) we ate desserts! After all of the eating (and most of the cleaning up), we got to watch the little ones open their gifts. My youngest great-niece, Layla, opened two gifts and then curled up in Liz's lap and slept for almost 2 hours. (Layla's about 18 months, so after her nap she started opening gifts again.) Then we played the Christmas Gift Exchange game. Ross's family is a little more competitive than my family, so you really hope to draw a high number so that you are one of the last to either "steal" or choose a gift. (If you are one of the last ones, it's a little easier to get and keep the gift you really like.) The Wonder Husband came home with a 1 gig flash drive, I have a Canadian Geese wall hanging (yippee ;p) ! But at least this year no one brought 10 pairs of tube socks or a bag of toothbrushes and toothpaste!! (Yes, we have some of those types!)

When we got back to our house, it was time for Liz to load up her car and head back to Kentucky. **sad, sad** And I had to go take care of Cocoa, since the Wonder Husband let me stay in bed for the a.m. feeding. When Liz finally called to say she was close to home, she told us that she had been driving through hard rain most of the way. I was worried about snow, but she said she would rather have been driving in snow than hard rain.

One more Christmas to go. But that won't take place until Daniel, Carolyn and gang make it back from New York. That means that Christmas decorations cannot come down, yet. That means that I cannot rearrange my living room back to comfortable, yet. That means, I'm spending lots of time either in the dining room or upstairs in my sewing room. Upstairs is always a good option! I do love my sewing room!!!

Well, hope you all are still faring well after your Christmas celebrations. Talk to you soon.

I have no idea why, but everything on this pop-up comment screen is in german, for heaven's sake!! I am dying laughing here! Anywayyyyy....I am so enjoying reading about all of your "Christmasing" with your family, Theresa! I must admit, it makes me feel a bit tired, reading about it ALL. I can only imagine how you must be feeling and you are finished yet!! I love you and wish you the best for the remainder of Christmas and the coming new year!! ((HUGS))
