I ran across something on a blog that has kept my mind occupied for a couple of weeks and I just thought that I'd share it and see what you think.

This is Christmas time (brilliant observation, but very relevant) and the majority of Christians will spend some of this time focusing on the birth of Christ. Nothing wrong with that, if He hadn't been born, He could not have been our Kinsman Redeemer and paid the price for our salvation. However, the idea that I have been chewing on is this:

As parents, we usually spend one day a year celebrating our child's birthday. As they grow older, though, we do not keep focusing each birthday celebration on the day of their actual birth (and, yes, I am aware that Jesus was most likely not born in December!). We focus each year on who they are now. It would seem very demeaning to keep treating them as a baby.

And yet, that is what we seem to do each year at Christmas. We celebrate the Birth, but we neglect to look at Who He is to us today. He is soooo much more than a baby in a manger!

My question for you, dear Reader, is this: Who is Jesus to you at this Christmas time???

Wow, that's a good suggestion/observation. I'm going to have to ponder this before rattling out a reply. Um, before rattling out a *thoughtful* reply, since I'm apparently rattling out a off-the-cuff one as we speak.

Nice to meet you, Liz's mom. I came from her blog. :-)
