We made it to Newport around 10:45, and then had to wait for Liz, who was running a little late. (Nothing new there ; ) !) So, while we waited, we did some outside pics:

Then Liz finally arrived, and Jessica (who is the world's greatest con), asked one of the Newport picture takers, to use our cameras and take a family picture. Four snaps later we were ready to go inside. (Oh, yeah, Jessica may be a con, but she's a server, so she tipped the guy!)

The aquarium was VERY BUSY, and VERY PACKED! But it is such a well-layed-out, floor plan, that as long as you were a little patient, you could see every exhibit. DR found that the best thing to do was to migrate between all of his adults, that way he could pretty much do what he wanted without too much opposition! (I had him sitting in bubble windows for pics, and found out later that Jessica had told not to climb in them.) So, if he wanted to do something and was told no, or not right now, he just switched adults!!! (Tell me they don't learn to play family well!) Aunt Liz and Granny were his favorite targets, because neither of them are very good at saying "No" and making it stick with him.
This is a picture of the first big aquarium as you walk in the door. Very beautiful, multicolored fish!!!

"Hey, Nana, Daddy said that this is supper. I like the legs, best!"

"Nana, did you know, alligators can't live outside up here 'cause it's too cold?" "I don't think I'd like an alligator on my porch, it might eat Mommy's shoes like Buck does."

"Hey, look David Riley, there's a shark ray swimming over your head!"

"Nana, I almost got to pet that shark. I wish my arm was longer!"

"Look, Nana, a turtle pyramid! Why are they climbing on each other like that?"
And the Mystery Picture of the day---Oh, yeah, that's Liz . Why did the Wonder Husband take a close-up of her nose and glasses? Because he could! After we finished at the aquarium, we decided to take Robbie to Golden Corral for his birthday supper. Since it was sooooooo crowded in the truck, Jessica and I opted to ride with Liz. She was going to lead us the quickest way to the Golden Corral that was closest to Bass Pro Shop. Well, that was the plan anyway.
Liz got to talking and missed a few turns, so we had a scenic ride through a not-very scenic area of Newport, KY! After a few harrassing calls from Robbie, Liz finally got us onto the correct road. AND THEN!!!! Liz made a left onto the freeway, Robbie made a right. Liz called Robbie to see if he was lost--no he was headed to Bass Pro, and the restaurant. There ensued a few "insults" and a bet, about who was going to be at the restaurant first.
Liz then proceeded to get off at the mall exit--unfortunately, it was the wrong mall! (She cannot talk and drive without getting lost! The only problem is that we've never found her "off" switch for her mouth!) Finally, we got to the Golden Corral near Bass Pro, but OF COURSE, Robbie had beat us!
We had a good meal, and then went to Bass Pro and walked it off!
Good times!! Would we do it again??? Of course! However, Liz has informed me that I'm not allowed to plan anymore family trips unless she can bring Chris! Oh, who's Chris??? Well, check out The Lizness and she will be happy to introduce you to him.
