Yesterday, David Riley and I were hanging out in the dining room, when all of a sudden everything started shaking and moving.
I do have an older wood frame house, and occasionally, a certain 10 yr. old can make things move just by running up the stairs, but he was sitting at the table creating school supply creatures. And (amazingly enough) he wasn't even bouncing his leg!
The doors on our computer desk started swinging and so did the pull chains on the ceiling fan for no apparent reason.
DR looked up and asked if a herd of elephants had just run past. (Sly reference to what I say when he's stomping and running.)
I was still looking around dumb-founded. I finally told him that I thought we just had an earthquake.
He looked at me with HUGE eyes, and said, "Seriously?? In Ohio??"
I called the local radio station and the deejay confirmed that there was an earthquake, but the epicenter hadn't been identified at that time. Later I found out that the epicenter was actually in Virginia, many states and several hundred miles away.
Needless to say, I was a little skittery feeling the rest of the day. And this snippet of scripture dealing with the end of days kept playing in my head:
Mk:13:8: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

What's funny is that I didn't feel it at all. The ground always shakes at work since we have several large presses that vibrate the floor when they run, as they did yesterday.
