Yesterday started off to be a pretty good day. The hubby took a vacation day because he had an appointment in Gahanna. David Riley was with us all day. Eva went to the daycare until about 4. Hubby and I were doing some minor house cleaning in preparation for Bible Study being at our house on Wednesday night. Just kind of calm and peaceful. The kids were spending the night. We were watching a movie together.
It didn't stay that way.
About 9 p.m., the charge nurse at the nursing center called me. In the background I could hear an alarm pad sounding off. Then she says, "We are picking your mom off of the floor. We've called an ambulance to take her to ER. She's hit her head and it looks bad."
Full-tilt! I had to call Jessica to come help her dad get the kids to bed. (It truly is a 2-person job when one of the people is a male.) I hopped in the car and beat the ambulance to the ER so I could get Mom registered so there would be no delay in care. (I know the paperwork is important, but REALLY???)
Then I started texting family and ministers to pray.
Mom is on blood-thinners so every bump becomes a possible bleed.
It was a little frightening sitting watching her head and arm swell and discolor while waiting for a CT scan. Ice didn't slow the swelling. All the nurse could do was give her acetometaphin and wipe off the one area that actually had a scrape and was bleeding.
Thank God, the CT scan showed no brain bleeding, just a mild concussion.
She's going to be on a stroke watch for the next 10 days or so, so we can't take her anywhere for her 91st birthday on Friday.
I finally got in bed about 12:30. Then Eva had a nightmare about 1:30. I think everyone (including Sparky) slept from 2-5 when Sir Nottaguy-Imadad had to get up for work.
I'm getting a little too old for late nights like that, especially when they are that stressful!
I'd appreciate your keeping us in prayer.
