Columbus Traffic, Jelly Belly's and Thunderstorms

This is a very accurate description of my day, so far!

I had to go to Columbus this morning for another check-up by my surgeon. (He's not real pleased with the way my body is healing, please pray that the lab results come back good!) Traffic going into downtown was not bad at all for a Monday morning. However, leaving the downtown area around ll a.m., was another story. Tried to get on the I-71 connection from 4th Street, but there was a large truck that had collided with two cars and had the entrance ramp blocked. I grew up in Columbus, so I know lots of ways to get to Polaris, however all of them have major road construction going on. I thought I'd never get to Meijer on Polaris and U.S. 3. I'm not an easily frustrated driver usually, but I came close today!!!

Why did I have to go to Meijer on Polaris, you ask??? JELLY BELLY JELLY BEANS!!!! This particular store has the best selection of bulk Jelly Belly's, and since my grandkids are all addicted to them, and Nana's supply was running low, I had to stop and buy. I can't just buy the 39 variety pack at Wal-Mart, because the kids will only eat certain flavors. So, I had to stock up on buttered popcorn, caramel corn, cotton candy, bubble gum, red apple, A&W Cream Soda, and A & W Rootbeer flavors.

Do you know what happens when you are trying to balance one full bag of jelly beans, while you fill a second bag, and some little kid nails you with a cart??? Yep, you got it, second bag all over the floor! What does mother of said child do? Nothing, except say "You better find someone to clean those up before somebody gets hurt." GRRRRR!

Well, tonight I was cooking supper (fried potatoes and hotdogs) while a major thunderstorm rolled through Mount Vernon and surrounding area. (We are currently still under a flash flood watch.) The lights kept flickering, and I kept praying, "Please, just let me get supper done, first!" Well, the good Lord, heard and answered, and supper was cooked completely, and we never did lose power. Thank You, Lord!!! (Seriously!!!)

I hope you have all had better days. I'm going to get a good night's sleep tonight, and plan for a better day tomorrow!!!

I'm so glad you made it home safely and got supper finished! So did you have to pay for the jelly bellies that went all over the floor? You are such a good grandmother, Theresa. It amazes me what grandmothers do for their grandchildren. Should the Lord tarry, I may find out about all of that someday, but we aren't in any hurry. :-)

No, I did not have to pay for the spilled beans. (Thank goodness! I think I would have hunted the mom down and given her the bag!)

I can see it now:

Jewel: But, Daniel, I only bought a few things for the baby.

Daniel: Mom, when I have to consider renting a second apartment just for the baby, that's more than a few!

I loved watching Riley eat black olives at the wedding on his fingers! it was hilarious. (that has nothing to do with this post, but it was relevant, I thought)
